The Rivers State Government has received the donation of 21,650 bags of grains from the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu. Governor Siminalayi Fubara took delivery of the donated items in Port Harcourt on Wednesday. The event formed part of the Rivers State Government and NEMA joint Flag-off of the Federal Government Grain Distribution exercise in the State. The donated food items consist of 3, 680 bags of garri and 17,970 bags of corn. They are part of the Presidential food palliative initiative distributed to cushion the effects of hunger and the economic hardship faced by many families across Nigeria. Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo represented governor Fubara. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the donation of the food items to the State.   TOMPOLO SURVEILLANCE FIRM ALLEGES 90% DIESEL SOLD IN NIGERIA FILLING STATIONS ILLEGALLY REFINED   Ninety (90) per cent of diesel that is available and sold in filling stations in Nigeria is refined in local communities in the Niger Delta region. This is the revelation given by Tantita Security Services (TSS) Limited, Ltd, a company that is owned by former Niger Delta warlord, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo. The Executive Director, Operations & Technical of the company, Captain Warredi Enisuo, made the revelation when he spoke at a panel session with the theme: “ Exploring Nigeria’s Content Solutions to Meet Energy Demand,” during the Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) summit in Abuja. Facebook unveils monetisation features for Nigerian, Ghanaian creators

  Meta has announced that content creators in Nigeria and Ghana with at least 5,000 followers will start earning money on Facebook from July 1, 2024.  The company introduced two monetisation features: In-Stream Ads on Facebook and Facebook Ads on Reels on Monday. According to a statement from Meta, these features will allow creators to earn revenue by producing original videos and building their communities. Governor Fubara gave the advise when some aggrieved traders, organised as 'Mile One (Rumuwoji) Market Phase 2 Genuine Shop Owners Affected by 2013 Inferno' came on a peaceful protest march to Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday.   ANGOLA TO OPEN VISA OFFICE IN PORT HARCOURT The Republic of Angola says it will will open a  visa office in Port Harcourt, capital city of Rivers State on Tuesday, April 2nd. This will make it three of such offices in Nigeria, the other offices located in Lagos and Abuja. Alongside, the Republic of Angola will also open an investment centre in Port Harcourt same day. This was contained in a statement released by the  Angola Embassy in Nigeria.   CBN Sacks Boards Of Union, Keystone, Polaris And Titan Banks  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has sacked the boards of Union Bank, Polaris Bank, Keystone Bank and Titan Trust Bank. The apex bank in a statement signed by its Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Sidi Hakama, said “this action became necessary due to the non-compliance of these banks and their respective boards with the provisions of Section 12(c), (f), (g), (h) of Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act, 2020.” It added that “the Bank’s infractions vary from regulatory non-compliance, corporate governance failure, disregarding the conditions under which their licenses were granted, and involvement in activities that pose a threat to financial stability, among others.” The CBN also assured the public of the safety and security of depositors’ funds, saying it remained resolute in fulfilling its mandate to uphold a safe, sound, and robust financial system in Nigeria.
