Cell inmates crowns Seun Kuti General Overseer as he leads Prayers

 Embattled Afrobeat singer and son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Seun Kuti, who is currently being remanded at the State Criminal, Investigations and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos on the orders of Yaba Chief Magistrate Court for assaulting a police officer, has been crowned the ‘General Overseer’ of his cell by the inmates.  Vanguard reports that a copy of the Holy Bible was said to have been handed over to him as an instrument of his office. His appointment as the GO was however not without some drama after the inmates initially rejected him. According to the report, after Seun was taken to the cell to join other suspected criminals, his first shocker was the hoarse, deep baritone voice of the leader of the inmates who directed him to keep standing.  The First Lady, Aisha Buhari, is of the opinion that Nigerian presidents have no need to travel abroad for medical treatments, following the inauguration of the 21 billion naira Presidential Wing of the State House Medical Centre. Channels TV stated that Mrs Buhari stated this when she joined President Buhari and other dignitaries for the commissioning ceremony of the facility situated in the premises of Presidential Villa, Abuja. The president’s wife told State House correspondents that she established the idea of the wing six years ago, after the extensive stay of her husband abroad, for medical treatment. She assured that with the facility in place, Nigerian Presidents and their family members will no longer need to go abroad for treatment but may only fly medical experts to assist their colleagues in the country.

Court directs Police to remand Seun Kuti for 48hrs to complete Investigation

 The Magistrate Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos state has remanded Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, for 48 hours in police custody for allegedly assaulting a police officer.  At his arraignment before Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, the prosecution led by S. A Adebese and Morufu Animashaun asked the court to remand the defendant for 21 days pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. However, Kuti’s counsel, led by Femi Falana, SAN, asked the court to not remand his client, stating that they were not aware of the remand application.   The magistrate after listening to both parties requested five minutes of recess stating that she needed to deliberate on her own. Your BVN does not expire - CBN Governor clears the air

 The Central Bank of Nigeria has said that the Bank Verification Number does not have an expiry date.    The apex bank revealed this in a document signed by its Acting Director, Corporate Communication, Isa AbdulMumin, on Wednesday night, May 10.     The bank gave the clarification following a viral video of a man who claimed the BVN will expire by 2023 and that Nigerians should prepare to go for another registration by 2024.   “Contrary to these claims, we wish to clarify that the BVN issued in Nigeria has no expiry date. Once a customer’s biometrics have been captured and enrolled in the database of NIBSS, the BVN remains for life.”the statement said.
