I WILL NOT TAKE AWAY HOPE FROM YOU, FUBARA ASSURES Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara has noted the importance of hope in the life of every human and assured that his administration will continue to embark on activities that will sustain the hope of improved standard of living for them.  Governor Fubara gave the assurance at the launching of Emblem Appeal Fund to kickstart 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration that took place at the Banquet Hall of Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.   BREAKING: Appeal Court affirms Fubara as Rivers Gov, dismisses Tonye-Cole petition An Appeal Court sitting in Lagos State has affirmed the election of Siminalayi Fubara as the governor of Rivers State. The court dismissed the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Patrick Tonye-Cole, against Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In the courtroom on Tuesday, the APC candidate requested that the court order INEC to declare him the winner of the March governorship election in Rivers. Cole’s case contesting Fubara’s election as governor was initially dismissed by the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in October. Dissatisfied with the tribunal’s judgment, the APC candidate approached the appellate court. However, the court on Tuesday upheld the Tribunal ruling, which affirmed Fubara’s victory in October.

President Tinubu to present 2024 budget of N27.5 trillion to National Assembly on Wednesday November 29

 President Bola Tinubu will on Wednesday, November 29, present the 2024 budget to the National Assembly.   The Federal Executive Council earlier today November 27 approved the 2024 budget of N27.5 trillion. This followed the review of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework earlier passed by the National Assembly which benchmarked the exchange rate at N700 to $1 and crude oil price at $73.96 cent per barrel. Briefing State House Correspondents shortly after the Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu, said it revised the MTEF and the Fiscal Policy to use an exchange rate of N750 to $1 and also a benchmark crude oil reference price of $77.96 per barrel. According to Bagudu, the FEC also approved an Appropriation Bill for 2024 with an aggregate expenditure of N27.5 trillion, an increase of over N1.5 trillion from the previously estimated.  CONTEMPT FORM 48 ISSUED AGAINST AMAWHULE, MAOL OVER RIVERS CRISIS  The Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has issued contempt of court Form 48  against the embattled speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Dumle Maol. It was issued in pursuant to an application made by the Rt. Hon. Ehie Ogerenye Edison and the Rivers State House of Assembly over disobedience of the order of the Court made on the 7th day of November 2023. In the suit number FHC/PH/CS/240/2023, filed by the Rivers State House of Assembly as the first plaintiff and Rt. Hon. (Barr) Ehie Ogerenye Edison as the second plaintiff, the court had ordered the parties to stop taking any further steps concerning the subject matter of the suit before the court.
