I WILL NOT TAKE AWAY HOPE FROM YOU, FUBARA ASSURES



Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara has noted the importance of hope in the life of every human and assured that his administration will continue to embark on activities that will sustain the hope of improved standard of living for them. 


Governor Fubara gave the assurance at the launching of Emblem Appeal Fund to kickstart 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration that took place at the Banquet Hall of Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.


At the event, governor Fubara was decorated with the emblem crest by the State Chairman of the Nigerian Legion with other personnel taking turns to be decorated.


Governor Fubara noted that without hope, people will find it difficult to lead life optimistically.


He pointed out that it is for such reason that Nigerian president, Bola Tinubu has chosen the "Renewed Hope Agenda" mantra geared towards restoring lost hope in Nigerians by improving the nation's economy.


The governor also expressed appreciation to the war veterans, both fallen and living, for making invaluable sacrifices that have kept Nigeria as a united country.


Governor Fubara, on behalf of the State government launched the emblem with N30M.


He also promised to redeem the financial grant made by the immediate past administration to the Legion while also assuring that some of their children will be offered employment.


Governor Fubara urged the leadership of Nigerian legion to liaison with the office of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government to finalise the list of children of legionaries to be employed into the state civil service with each local government area to be represented.


Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo said war veterans, fallen and living, had shown greater love in defending the territorial sovereignty of Nigerian and ensured that its citizenry live in peace.


Chairman, Rivers State Command of Nigerian Legion, Area Controller General, (ACG) Rev.Canon Charles Hart remarked that the emblem appeal launch event kick-starts 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration to honour military officers who had paid the supreme price for the enthronement and sustenance of peace, unity, freedom and protection of Nigeria.
