Make Rivers State Unsafe for Criminals -Gov. Sim Fubara urges Police
FUBARA TELLS CP TO MAKE RIVERS UNSAFE FOR CRIMINALS
Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara hosted Mr. Nwoyi Polycarp Emeka, the new commissioner of police posted to Rivers State on a courtesy visit.
The police commissioner was accompanied by a retinue of principal police officers within the Rivers State Command.
They were received at the executive chamber of government house in Port Harcourt.
Governor Fubara spoke and reiterated the commitment of his administration to sustain support to all security agencies in the State to ensure the security of life and property is not compromised.
For Governor Fubara, the state can only be safer if the lives of the people and their property are safely guarded.
Governor Fubara therefore, urged the police to be upbeat in tackling all forms of crime and criminality professionally in the State.
The governor assured that as a government, logistics support to the police and indeed to all security agencies in the State will be continued.
Governor Fubara emphasised that the right climate has to be created in order to achieved better governance.
The Rivers State governor also frowned at the resurfacing of the operations of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in the State.
He recalled that SARS, as a unit within the Nigeria police force has been disbanded a long time ago and wondered why the CP was tolerating it.
Governor Fubara told the new Police Commissioner to look into those operations and ensure that it ceases to function in the State so that members of the public do not continue to suffer harassment from them.
