POLICE ARREST 15 OVER LOOTING OF WAREHOUSE IN FCT

15 suspects are now in police net in connection to the vandalism of a warehouse in the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT).

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command made the arrest of the suspect on Sunday.

In the early hours of Sunday, some residents of Abuja had stormed a warehouse, broken through and looted items.

The warehouse belonged to the Federal Capital Development Authority in Abuja.

Police Public Relations Officer of FCT command, SP Josephine Adeh confirmed the indecence in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

She said two security guards employed by the warehouse management were also among the suspects that had been arrested.

Adeh explained that some 26 bags of maize, five motorcycles and some aluminum roofing sheets were recovered from the suspects.

“The police command in the FCT is fully informed about the impulsive attack on the Agric Department Strategic food store located at Tasha area of Abuja, on March 3.

“The attack has resulted in the vandalism and looting of the warehouse.

“The command wishes to state that normalcy has since been restored to the area and the situation, under control,” she said.

On its part, the Spokesperson for the Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat of the FCTA, Zakari Aliyu, had confirmed the looting of its warehouse in Dei-Dei on Sunday.

“We visited the scene of the incident this morning.

"We visited with the secretary and some other officials of the secretariat.

"So, by tomorrow, the Secretary, I think, with the Minister of State, will pay another visit to that place.

“I am sure that a lot of information that will be useful to you, you will get it. If you can just be patient, tomorrow you will get all the information you need.

"If you go there, there is nothing there. If you know that place, do you know that they removed the roof, and the windows, inclusive, apart from the food items?”
