 I WILL NOT THROW CAUTION TO THE WINDS - FUBARA

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara says no matter the provocation, he will never throw caution to the wind.

Governor Fubara made the assertion Monday at the Banquet Hall of Government House in Port Harcourt.

It was at the occasion of a courtesy visit by stakeholders of Ikwerre Ethnic nationality including traditional rulers, political leaders, women, and youths.

They were led by the leadership of Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation Worldwide, and the Supreme Council of Ikwerre Traditional Rulers to recommit their unalloyed support to the success of the administration of the governor. 

Governor Fubara told them: "I, honestly, am filled with happiness. You know what it means to start a week on a very bright mood like this. 

"I am happy that today because this afternoon by the special grace of God, four Local Government Areas; the heartbeat of the Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality, are here to pay a solidarity visit to me. You know what it means?

"Let me first of all thank everyone of you. I have not had the opportunity, except, maybe in few gatherings that have met with one or two LGAs, but not the four LGAs together.

"I want to thank you first, for your support before we started, your support when we started and your support after our (electoral) victory.

"I want to also say this, Fubara is not an ungrateful person. If I were a bad person, it would have shown. You can't hide character that is bad more than one week, two weeks, one month, one year, two years, eight years, even more than eight years. For sixteen years, if I was a bad person, everybody would have known.

"But, even your own child that is in your house that you have given birth to, let us even start to say that it's the girl child. It does get to a stage that your girl child will enter the bathroom and lock the door from behind.

"Even if I they forcefully put a feeding bottle in my mouth, if I get filled, won't I pull it out? So, when people stand outside and say what they say, I want you to ask them to say in your own good conscience, what is that bad thing, that wickedness, that ungratefulness that this man(Fubara ) had ever shown or done. 

"But, I will leave that (one) to God who will judge everybody. Because today is not a day to complain. It is a day to  appreciate you. It is a day that just spelt out something big.

"That even those people that generated this propaganda of ethnic politics, they will see today that the Ikwerre people are here to show support, which goes to explain clearly that they are part of this government and that they will support this government to the end.

"What kind of support again do I need, when their own fathers are here with me to say look, we support you. It is the greatest blessing that any son can get. So, let me thank all the Royal Fathers, the opinion leaders of Ikwerre people Worldwide for this support.

"I want to assure you that not minding what is happening, I will not throw caution to the winds. 

"I will continue to appreciate that support that you people have given to me through one of your sons. It doesn't matter whether the person accepts it or not, I will continue to appreciate it.

"That one alone is what makes me restrain myself whenever it gets to that point when I need to act. 

"The restraint is because I was a well brought up boy. My story is clean, I wasn't disowned, I was a pure young man. I served people and I have genuine record of everything. 

"So, I tell you with all boldness and strength that I am well brought up and for that reason, I have respect.

"So, let me say here that I will continue to respect and appreciate you all. I will not take this your love for granted. I assure you that we are going to work together for the progress and development of our State.

"The heart of our State is in these four local governments. The airport is situated in Ikwerre LGA. The capital city,  government's headquarter is between Port Harcourt City and Obio/Akpor. That is were the economic activity is.

"Emohua is also there. So, I am happy to identify with you today openly and to assure you that we will do more things to bring development to these four local government areas.

"I just want to appeal to all of you, always stand for what is right. It doesn't matter whether one million is on the other side. If  you are the only one standing at the right side, stand, you won't get tired. But those people standing on the wrong side, definitely, they will be exhausted.

"So, I want to thank you and assure you that I will make you people proud.

But let me nite this, I feel very said that since  2004 that our father, Dr Peter Odili, came and laid a foundation for the building of the Secretariat of Obiri Ikwerre, nothing had happened even when you people had everything for years.

"Maybe, God had a reason for it. He wanted the adopted son of Ikwerre to come and do it for you. So, let me here, on behalf of the government and the very peace loving people of Rivers State, announce to you that we are going to take over and complete the building of the Obiri Ikwerre Secretariat for you.

"That is on one side. The other side of it is that the President mentioned some of the administrative challenges you face and also requested for some funds so that the Secretariat will be operating very well at the temporary site. 

"On behalf of the government, we are making a donation of N100,000,000 for the Secretariat. Then, for the demand for a vehicle, before you leave here, we will hand over one vehicle to you.

"Let me also assure you people that are here and the people that you represent, that our government will be a government that will give equal opportunity to everybody. 

"It will be a government that will operate a system where no man is oppressed. 

"I will not by any means, directly or indirectly, oppress anybody. I want to leave this office and seen and known as a peaceful man, walking on the streets without security. That is the greatest achievement of a good leader."
